Reflection Volume 13,Issue 3, Fall 2016 23 The International Congress (July 9th–12th, 2016): A short impression The theme: Leap into the Light of the Future! Wies Kuiper, Chair of the Dutch Clerical Synod and member of the Centennial Committee This was a very special experience. Every day started with a Prime at 8 o’clock followed after breakfast with the Holy Eucharist at 10.30. Celebrated in the English, Dutch, French or Swedish language and the parish answers in English or their own language. That formed a very warm unity in its diversity. There were also other services, as Vespers, Complin and a Healing service. There was also the service of the Holy Benediction (served by three bishops). In the evening of the first day we created a song for the congress: The LCC Centennial Song . That song formedmore or less the foundation for the other days. We sang it every day just before lunch, with Henry Hagen on guitar. You’ll find the specifics at the bottomof this page. Every day had its topic as awakening , moving , deepening and transforming , worked out in a manifold of workshops. The LCC Centennial Song Written on July 9th 2016 by 30members of the Internatio- nal LCC Congress in Naarden, the Netherlands. The four verses are the themes of each day of the Congress: Awakening , Moving , Deepening and Transforming . 1 Bells have awokenme Inner Christ tellingme: Gather fromme Fatherly energy, So you can growwithme In love eternity: Just followme! 2 Moving is our delight Towards the Light so bright, Stirring our soul; Climbing the mountains high, Seeing through God’s own eyes; One with all human kind, Lover is our goal! 3 We live from inner source, Silence and quietness, Creating wave; Visions arise fromdepth, And incarnate in life; Deeds be transformed in Light; Let there be peace! 4 Father, Son, Holy Ghost, How do we transformmost? Be in your heart. You’ll find your light in there, Here, now and everywhere, Gracefully thanking You, We’ll shine our light! Amen. Melody: Thou, Whose AlmightyWords (F. Giardini 1769) For example, in the four infographics lower on this page, one for each day, the daily theme was highlighted in words, colours and images. These infographics could be discussed and explored every day. And these daily themes of course could be explored in the many workshops on that day. Every moment you could choose out of four possibilities. So the workshops were not overcrowded and you could meet a lot of people. During the meals there was another excellent opportunity tomeet with people, clergy and lay men, fromother countries or just sit with your friends of course. The aimof this congress was to be a meeting point, in the formof dialogues and infographics, instead of lectures with an energy in just one direction. Looking back on this congress, I think that we succeeded to reach that goal. n
